Armageddon | The Undying Saga

Armageddon was not the beginning of the end.

It was humanity’s decision that there would be no more retreat.

For approximately a thousand cycles, the Ag’nagaruth had consumed worlds, converted populations and adapted everything they captured into extensions of their own advance.

Civilian vessels became carriers. Warships became living engines. Evacuation routes became invasion corridors. Every rescue became a risk. Every survivor became suspect.

The Pantheon War had ceased to be a struggle over territory.

It had become a struggle over whether civilisation itself could continue to exist.

By 2100 RZ, Zeus gathered allies, former enemies, subordinate powers and rival civilisations into the largest coalition fleet ever assembled.

Old disputes were suspended. Obsolete warships were recommissioned. Civilian vessels were armed. Planetary garrisons were stripped for personnel.

Nobody expected the fleet to return intact.

The objective was not merely to destroy the Ag’nagaruth.

It was to contain the Hades Nebula and close the Great Tear.

The coalition entered the nebula and encountered infected fleets accumulated across centuries of warfare.

Some vessels still resembled ships.

Others no longer resembled machines at all.

Hull and flesh had become one.

The battle began before the fleet had fully deployed.

Space became incandescent.

Millions died.

Then Zeus revealed its hidden weapons.

Secret systems developed to attack not possessed flesh, but ethereal energy itself.

The effect was unprecedented.

Ag’nagaruth manifestations weakened. Corrupted organisms lost cohesion. Their advance was forced backwards towards the Great Tear.

Around the Hades Nebula, colossal containment machines—some comparable in scale to worlds—were activated to lock the shrinking ethereal field inside the region.

Fleets died protecting them.

When the final system activated, the outward spread stopped.

But the Great Tear remained open.

The final plan depended upon a secret two-part weapon.

One component was carried aboard the immense vessel Genova.

It was supposed to rendezvous with its counterpart at the Great Tear and close the rupture permanently.

It never arrived. The Genova vanished. No wreckage was confirmed. The weapon failed. The Tear endured.

Then something impossible happened.

A scream crossed every frequency.

Some heard one voice. Others heard billions.

Then the Ag’nagaruth stopped.

Their armies withdrew.

Their possessed became dormant or directionless.

Their fleets retreated into the Hades Nebula.

No one knew why.

Zeus declared victory.

The nebula was sealed.

Two centuries of relative peace followed.

But the truth beneath the triumph remains unchanged.

The Great Tear was never closed. The Ag’nagaruth were never conclusively destroyed. And humanity survives not because it fully understood how to defeat them— but because, for reasons still unknown,

they stopped.
