THE AVENGING SUN

Not every power in the galaxy answers to a throne.

Some answer to money.

Some to survival.

And some answer only to the people standing beside them when the shooting starts.

The Avenging Sun is one such vessel.

A heavily armed mercenary cruiser operating beyond the rigid authority of the great empires, the Avenging Sun carries no nation’s flag and no permanent allegiance. Its contracts change. Its destinations change. Its enemies change.

Its crew does not.

Commanded by Captain J. Miller, the Avenging Sun is home to soldiers, pilots, engineers, specialists and survivors drawn from different worlds, different cultures and different wars.

They are not heroes.

Most would probably laugh at the suggestion.

They are professionals.

They fight because someone is paying them, because there is nowhere else to go, because violence is the one skill the galaxy has always found useful — or because somewhere along the way, the ship became more than employment.

It became home.

Mercenary crews are often dismissed as opportunists.

The Avenging Sun makes that assumption dangerous.

Its people are experienced enough to know that contracts rarely survive first contact with reality. Missions collapse. Intelligence fails. Employers lie. Governments sacrifice expendable assets without hesitation.

So the crew learned something more valuable than obedience:

Trust the person beside you.

Miller holds them together through reputation, discipline and the quiet authority of a man who has survived long enough to understand what command costs.

Around him stands a crew built from very different pieces.

Yoko Yoshiro — pilot and nerve-centre of the bridge. Mitsuko — companion, mystery, survivor, and a presence around which larger forces begin to move. Kazuomi, Mya Hendrix, Ivy Hart, Jacob Whitlock, Lynch, Horvat, Brom, Xiu, Toby, Delis, Cordy and Meta — each carrying their own skills, histories and reasons for remaining aboard.
They argue. They distrust. They form alliances. They keep secrets. And when things go wrong, they bleed together.

That is the true strength of the Avenging Sun.

Not armour. Not weapons. Not speed. People.

Aboard the ship, loyalty is rarely clean. Friendships are forged under pressure. Resentments simmer beneath routine. Fear travels through corridors faster than any alarm.

Yet when hulls rupture, systems fail and something impossible begins moving in the dark, the crew still turns toward the danger.

Sometimes because the contract demands it.

Sometimes because there is no escape.

Sometimes because leaving someone behind would be worse.

The Avenging Sun sails through a galaxy dominated by empires, ancient enemies and powers capable of erasing worlds.

It should be insignificant.

A single mercenary vessel.

One crew among billions.

But history has never cared about scale.

Only position.

And when the Avenging Sun enters the Hades Nebula, its crew unknowingly crosses the point where employment ends and fate begins.

From that moment onward, they are no longer simply mercenaries chasing the next contract.

They are witnesses. Survivors. Targets.
And perhaps the only people standing between humanity—
and something that should have remained forgotten.
